Center Grove High School

Location: Indianapolis, IN

Center Grove High School is designed to support the Center Grove educational mission, while serving as an asset to the community. Among its features are a new auditorium with high-tech acoustics and easy access. Well-equipped art, drama and music spaces are also housed in the updated institution, as are the Vandermeer Gymnasium, the aquatics center, improved physical education venues and fitness training facilities. Community use of these areas is also incorporated into the design.

Every classroom, laboratory and instructional area is equipped with phone and data capabilities and video retrieval equipment. Instructional computer laboratories are strategically located, putting computer technology in the hands of students and teachers. The Hall of Excellence functions as the main entrance to the aquatics center, gymnasium, performing arts center and cafeteria. The space is designed as a community gathering place, with display cases for recognition of all student, staff and program achievements. Commemorative plaques for students who have given their lives for their country are also displayed in this area.

Also included in the Master Plan for this project was:

• freeing prime land for use by the sports programs, by relocating the bus maintenance facility
• building a new main entry off of Stones Crossing Road that simplified the circulation patterns within the campus and increased safety
• constructing a new band practice area, with associated support building
• constructing new roads, parking space, a tennis building, soccer fields, softball field, baseball field, football support buildings, and stormwater management area
